Ammonia-Free Bright Chloride Zinc Plating Process for Rack and Barrel
Ammonia-free bright chloride zinc plating process for rack & barrel with excellent brightness and throwing power
ULTRABRITE 2050M/2050R is an ammonia-free superior bright chloride zinc plating process for both rack and barrel installations. It produces a fine, brilliant zinc deposit with excellent brightness, leveling and ductility in the shortest possible time — a finish that can substitute nickel on many decorative parts. The process offers excellent coverage and throwing power across a wide current density range and plates difficult-to-plate items such as iron castings, carbonized and heat-treated steel with ease. Because of its biodegradable, non-pollutant and non-toxic character, it is easy to handle and a better choice over cyanide zinc plating. The system comprises ULTRABRITE 1021A (zinc chloride base), ULTRABRITE 1021B (potassium chloride electrolyte/buffer), ULTRABRITE 2050M (liquid primary additive for grain refinement, coverage and throwing power) and ULTRABRITE 2050R (secondary brightening agent for luster, leveling and wide cathode current density range). It operates at 20–45°C with bright deposits even up to 45°C, readily accepts CHEMIDITE chromate conversion coatings for good corrosion resistance, and the bath is easily controlled by simple additions of additive/brightener, saving maintenance time.

Yes. The process is versatile for both rack and barrel installations, plating a variety of shapes and loads with excellent coverage and throwing power across a wide current density range.
The process operates at a solution temperature of 20–45°C with bright deposits observed up to 45°C, and a pH of 5.0–5.5 for rack and 4.8–5.5 for barrel plating.
Brighteners are consumed mainly by electrolysis and drag out. Average requirement is ULTRABRITE 2050M: 75–125 ml/1000 AH and ULTRABRITE 2050R: 100–200 ml/1000 AH. Small, frequent additions guided by Hull cell panel control are recommended for best results.
